Following Jurassic World Dominion's theatrical premiere on June 10, the sequel movie will arrive on Peacock due to a major Universal streaming deal.
The trilogy-ending Jurassic World Dominion may not be arriving on streaming until much later than expected. Jurassic World Dominion’s theatrical debut follows that of Top Gun: Maverick, another legacy sequel whose box office soared much higher than anticipated. Despite Jurassic World Dominion’s mixed reviews, the movie is expected to perform well at the box office and enjoy a substantial theatrical window.
Jurassic World Dominion is the third and final installment in the Jurassic Park sequel trilogy, which follows a new generation of Jurassic World employees and scientists as the dinosaurs reclaim the natural world. Alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their respective lead Jurassic World roles of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, Jurassic World Dominion brings back the three stars from the original Jurassic Park movie: Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm. With Pratt professing Jurassic World Dominion as the franchise’s end, the stakes for the 2022 sequel’s success are high.

While the pandemic’s lower box office numbers led to theatrical releases generally arriving on streaming within 45 days of their debuts, the substantial influx of moviegoers for franchise films is indicating a move toward longer exclusive theatrical windows. Universal Pictures is one major studio that is adopting this theatrical-to-streaming release paradigm, as the company has entered a massive deal with NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock. Due to this deal, Jurassic World Dominion and other Universal movies will release exclusively on Peacock for streaming no later than four months after their theatrical debuts (via IGN).
Jurassic World Dominion won’t be available online for VOD rentals or purchasing until later in the summer. Universal has yet to announce when the latest installment of the Jurassic World trilogy will be made available for physical media, but it isn’t expected to release until August or September 2022. Consequently, the only way to watch Jurassic World Dominion upon release is in theaters, beginning June 10, 2022.
Although viewers can expect to see Jurassic World Dominion streaming on Peacock before the four months are over, its exact date hasn’t been revealed by Universal. If Jurassic World Dominion enjoys the full four-month theatrical window, it will drop on October 10, 2022, at the very latest. However, the wait to stream the movie on Peacock likely won’t be this long, if it follows the streaming timeline of Universal’s 2022 film The Northman. Robert Eggers’ Viking epic debuted in theaters on April 22 before landing exclusively on Peacock only 42 days later, on June 3. However, this quick streaming turnaround may have been due to The Northman’s box office failure, suggesting Jurassic World Dominion’s Peacock release date may be dependent on its theatrical performance. When considering Universal’s other 2022 releases, Jurassic World Dominion could arrive on Peacock for streaming on July 22 at the earliest.
In the meantime, the rest of the Jurassic Park franchise is readily available online. However, due to licensing rights and prior agreements, none of the Jurassic Park movies are available on Jurassic World Dominion’s Peacock streaming service. The original trilogy movies, Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), and Jurassic Park III (2001), are all available to stream on HBO Max. The 2015 installment Jurassic World isn’t available on any streaming services but can be purchased or rented online through Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Google Play, and YouTube. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), however, is available to stream on FuboTV and DirecTV and can be watched online through purchases and rentals on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Google Play, and YouTube. The Jurassic Park short film Battle at Big Rock can also be streamed for free on YouTube.
