Which brings us to an important question: When you’re scoping out TV deals on Amazon, what should you look out for? Generally speaking, it’s worth keeping an eye out for High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatibility. This comes in several flavors, such as HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and others. Basically, the more the better.
Next, consider a Smart TV. These give you access to programming through streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ or Prime Video, for instance—and most have the apps for these services built in, so you may not even need a set-top box to get them. TVs come in sizes from 40 inches right up to 80-plus.
Last, OLED remains the technology to aspire to, though note that if your room is very brightly lit, you may still want to choose an LED screen instead, as those TVs go brighter. The good news is that the spectacular picture quality of Ultra HD (also known as 4K or UHD) is no longer limited to the biggest screen sizes.
With all that out of the way, read on for the best Amazon Prime Day TV deals available right now.
This is Amazon Prime Day after all, so let’s start with a TV from the host. It’s a 65-inch 4K LED screen with HDR compatibility (HDR10 & HLG), so TV shows and movies look their best. This is a model released in 2021, hence the 31% discount, but it doesn’t skimp on the features. If you’re looking to fill a big room, this is a real contender.
TCL is known for making high-quality televisions at budget-friendly prices. But the price on this model has dropped even further in recent hours, to just $288. The television offers Smart TV connectivity and incredible 4K resolution.
This 75-inch Toshiba is a Fire TV: It uses Amazon’s Fire TV operating system that brings channels and apps together on a convenient home screen. The 4K picture here is excellent, including HDR support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10 and HLG. A special note worth bearing in mind: This TV deal is only available for a limited time (for just 15 hours, as of this writing), so you’d better hop to it.
LG makes brilliant OLED TVs, like this one from 2021 with a huge $500+ discount. The 48-inch size means it will dominate a smaller room but hold its own in a larger one. It has HDR compatibility with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. LG has its own TV operating system, called webOS, which is highly intuitive.
Hisense makes TVs at already great values, and this latest 50-inch 4K TV is even more so due to its discount of an additional 36% right now. This Samsung is a model from 2020, but don’t underestimate it: The picture quality is fantastic, with a very wide viewing angle, Alexa technology built-in. It’s also got an advanced picture quality engine that adapts to the content and adjusts output according to the light in your room. Best of all, the television is great at upscaling the picture to something close to 4K.
If the 65-incher up above wasn’t the right fit for you, how about this Amazon Fire TV Omni Series model in its 43-inch size? It’s $90 off, too. The television has all the benefits of Amazon’s regular Fire TV series, like the Fire TV interface and a great picture, and comes with an even easier way to use Alexa. Its local dimming system makes for great contrast and minimal halo effects where dark and bright picture elements meet. This 2022 model has a fast refresh rate that minimizes image blur and is great for gaming as well.
This is a smaller TV than many here, ideal for a bedroom, say. As it’s a 32-inch screen, it’s HD, not 4K (TVs of this smaller size rarely come in that kind of resolution), but it comes with an Alexa Voice remote control. This means that you can change channels, find movies and more just by pressing a button and speaking into the remote.
