Touchscreen technology is now so well-developed, adopted and cost-effective that it now seems possible to stick it onto anything, from the lids of laptops to the rear panels of smartphones. Now, the Harman brand JBL has taken the trend even further with the new Tour PRO 2 TWS earbuds.

Not only does their case have its own display, it may even be fairly usable at 1.45 inches across (bigger than some older smartwatches). JBL has provided it with the UI sufficient to switch the tracks being played through the Tour PRO 2s, as well as toggle their Ambient Mode on or off, as well as control their "true adaptive" ANC...should the user's smartphone be out of commission or something.

The PRO 2 earbuds themselves are equipped with 10mm "dynamic" drivers rated for "legendary JBL PRO sound" and JBL Spatial Sound. They have also dropped their Tour PRO+ predecessors' popcorn form-factor for the AirPod look, which allows them to pack 6 mics behind an unusually extensive pattern of stem-grilles for "perfect" VoiceAware call qualty as well as their new ANC specs.

The JBL Tour PRO 2s have also upgraded to Bluetooth 5.3 with LE technology and an Oval Tube design with multiple tip sizes in the box for potentially improved ergonomics. They also pack Personi-fi 2.0 from their parent company for "customizable" sound.

The earbuds are also rated for a run-time of up to 10 hours, bringing their total longevity with the LED case up to a possible 40 hours per charge. They have been set at a €249 (~US$247) starting price and are projected to become available from January 2023.
