Speaking of which, how old was Priscilla when she married Elvis?

Priscilla married Elvis Presley when she was 21 and he was 31.

The couple tied the knot in 1967, but let’s take a moment to recount how they met and their relationship before the marriage.

Distractify reports that they encountered one another at a party in West Germany in 1959; she was 14 at the time, whereas he was 24. This led to Priscilla’s parents telling her she couldn’t see him. However, he gradually began to spend time with the family and things were a little more peachy by the time he left the country in 1960.

Although the great distance kept them apart for two years, they shared correspondence and eventually met again in 1962 when she was allowed to visit the musician in Los Angeles.

Fast forward to 1963 and she moved to Los Angeles under the conditions – from her parents – that she would go to a Catholic school and that they’d marry when the time was right. The Express adds that another condition included her having to live with Elvis’s parents rather than sharing a home with her partner.

Nevertheless, the rules weren’t followed and the pair lived together, with Elvis assuring Priscilla’s parents that there would soon be a ring on their daughter’s finger. After some career moves, and a stint in Hollywood, Elvis proposed in 1966 and they got married in Las Vegas on May 1 1967.

Nine months later, Priscilla gave birth to her and Elvis’s first and only child, who they named Lisa Marie Presley. They only stayed married for six years and the divorce was concluded on October 9 1973.

Distractify reports that the pair remained on good terms until Elvis’s death at the young age of 42 in 1977.

In 1985, she opened up about the details of their first meeting and beyond, telling People Magazine that he approached her and said “Why you’re just a baby,” before asking her to accompany him to his room days later.

“I want to be alone with you, Priscilla” he allegedly told her. “Will you come upstairs to my room?”

When they began seeing each other, her parents weren’t seeing eye-to-eye with the couple: “My parents became confused and bewildered by our relationship. We tried to make them believe that it was proper and platonic, and they wanted to believe me.”
