THE Philippine National Police (PNP) is coordinating with the camp of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. as well as various local government units in setting up large LED screens for his inauguration on June 30, 2022.

MGen. Valeriano de Leon, PNP director for operations, said police regional directors have started talks with the Marcos camp and LGUs to identify where the screens will be set up.

The LED screens will be for the people who will not be able to physically attend Marcos' inauguration at the National Museum building in Manila, de Leon said.

In the case of the inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio on June 19, de Leon said at least six big LED screens will be set up in Davao City.

He said the PNP expects a large number of Marcos supporters to witness his oath-taking, but the National Museum can accommodate only 1,200 people.

De Leon said he is coordinating with the management of the golf course in Intramuros fronting the museum to find out if they could allow people to enter the course.

The golf course can accommodate up to 10,000 people.

"But as much as possible, we want to limit the number of people in the oath-taking site for security purposes. This is where the use of LED TVs will be strategic and useful as far as the security cluster is concerned," he said.

De Leon added despite the warning from former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile, the PNP has not detected any serious threat to disrupt the inauguration ceremonies of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio.

"But we do not discount every information that reaches our office. Right now, we are validating some raw information, but be that as it may, the PNP, the AFP and other LGUs are ready to help in ensuring peace and order in the inauguration sites," he said.

PNP spokesman Col. Jean Fajardo said protest rallies will not be allowed in the vicinity of the inauguration sites.

In a radio interview, Fajardo said rallies are expected at the San Pedro Square in Davao City on June 19, as well as near the National Museum on June 30.

She said the PNP will not curtail the freedom to assemble, and the rallyists can voice their sentiments at designated freedom parks.
