The Geminos dual-screen desktop monitor is crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The campaign was fully funded in 36 minutes but will run for several more weeks. The device comprises two 24-in displays stacked one on top of the other, with a minimal gap between them, for an almost square aspect ratio. Each LED backlit screen has a 1080p resolution, a 60 Hz refresh rate and a 97% sRGB color gamut.
The top monitor slides up and down the stand, and the lower monitor pivots on a slant to create an angled surface. Mobile Pixels Inc suggests that this is an improved set-up ergonomically compared to side-by-side monitors. You can collapse the Geminos to store it flat and adjust the displays to find your ideal screen height. A built-in 1080p HD webcam allows you to make video calls on the device, which also has two integrated 4 W speakers.
A USB-docking station is included on the monitor's base, with support for 100 W USB-C pass-through charging for your laptop, alongside UBS-A, Ethernet, HDMI ports and an SD card slot. You can control the device through touch panel buttons and connect your computer via a single cable connection, though you need to use a Mobile Pixels driver to achieve this; alternatively, you can use standard HDMI and USB-C cables.
You can currently receive the Geminos dual-screen desktop monitor when you pledge US$499 to the Kickstarter campaign; the gadget is expected to retail for US$999 in the future. Mobiles Pixels Inc will ship the device globally, with delivery estimated for October.
