Oregon State’s 2022 season opener against Boise State at 7:30 p.m. in Reser Stadium is within about 200 tickets of a sellout, the school reports.
With the Reser Stadium’s west side undergoing a $161 million remodel, capacity this season is 26,407. OSU is anticipating each of its six games at Reser will be sold out this season.
Those some 200 tickets are earmarked for single-game sales. The school is holding back some tickets for season ticket sales this week. In addition, there are 6,000 tickets that OSU distributes to its students.
Oregon State will not sell student tickets unless there are a large number that haven’t been claimed within a few hours of kickoff, according to a school official.
Boise State has sold its allotment of 1,450 tickets. The contract between the schools allowed Boise State up to 2,750 tickets, but it didn’t ask for more beyond the initial allotment of 1,450.
During a media tour Monday of Reser Stadium’s renovation, athletic director Scott Barnes said the new $5 million video board should be completed Tuesday or Wednesday. Originally said to be completed by Aug. 20, there have been a few delays but Barnes was confident they’ll be able to test the board by midweek.
As of Monday morning, there were a few panels missing from the top of the 6,750-square foot video board. When complete, the board will serve as the scoreboard, and display images that can span the entire 150-foot width of the board.
Also new in 2022 are bold 40-second clocks with time remaining. They’re located along the field wall behind the end zone, just to the right of the field goal posts.
During the tour, Barnes showed the view from premium seating, the second of three levels of the new west side. Seating will be about 35 feet from the field, and less than 20 feet above field level. Total number of seats in the newly-remodeled west side is 8,904.

The view gives spectators an up-close look at the field, as they'll be some 35 feet from the field, and less than 20 feet above field level. The white structure just past the seating area will not be there in 2023, as that is the temporary press box being used for the 2022 season. (Nick Daschel | The Oregonian/OregonLive)
